Many of you have reached out to Ed asking how you could contribute to Responsible North Idaho Growth. Well, we finally have the answer: Patreon.
What is Patreon?
Patreon is an online platform that allows communities to come together and support causes. It was originally created for artists, but the platform has since expanded to support anyone with a cause.
Our Patreon page is located at www.patreon.com/rnigrowth.
Patronage is an age old concept, and Patreon puts a new age spin on it. It allows people to signup for monthly contributions to our cause. After a brief signup process, people are able to contribute to Responsible North Idaho Growth. You select your contribution amount, it’s billed monthly, and you can cancel at any time.
If you prefer to mail in a cash or check contribution, please be patient, we should have a PO Box setup for this purpose in the very near future.
What will we use the funds for?
Believe it or not, even a small time operation such as this has operating costs. The website, the graphic design, as well as any print or digital advertising all cost money. The expenses on a year’s worth of website hosting and services cost us $300 to date, and those expenses have been covered by myself and another gentleman.
As we near local elections, we want to be able to raise awareness around this issue and hopefully identify slow growth candidates to support. Our approach is fluid, and we are exploring all avenues, from Facebook advertising, to local newspaper ads and printed flyers, to supporting local events and community outreach.
We will be transparent with our efforts and finances. Although we are not sure the format or the frequency of updates, we plan on being very upfront with what we are spending your money on and how much we have raised.
Last thing to keep in mind is that our approach to spending will vary city to city. Ideally, we will have a representative or two per city helping us guide the funds for maximum impact.
How can I help?
While financial assistance is always appreciated, we are desperately lacking local volunteers to spearhead their cities’ efforts. At this time we only have representatives for Rathdrum, Hayden, and Post Falls!
If you or anyone you know can contribute a couple of hours a week, it will be worth more than most monetary contributions. So please consider volunteering your time to help promote Responsible North Idaho Growth.
If you would be interested in contributing some of your time to track upcoming events, summarizing important local issues, or engaging the local community. Please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, city, and how you could contribute to our efforts.
