Replace Pro-Growth Incumbents

Over the almost six months since starting this group, and discovering what is really happening with the growth and density in the area, this group has been in constant change. All new ventures must be constantly evaluating and changing to find the most efficient ways to reach the goals.

As I see it now, the goals of this group are to slow growth and limit the density of development and people in Kootenai County. After the experiences with the cities over the past six months, the only way to achieve those goals is going to be through the ballot box.

The election is in November, which is really not that far off. The time for candidates to file their candidacy is the last week in August to the first week in September. That is really only 5-6 weeks away. I have had people indicate that they are seriously considering running, but do not want to announce as of yet.

The people in this group need to look inside themselves and determine how committed they are to being active in getting slow growth candidates elected. In order to beat the well entrenched incumbents, it is going to take organization in each city and then old fashioned leg-work. People are going to have to go door-to-door, block-by-block, neighborhood-by neighborhood, talking to the people and telling them that they do have a voice in changing the direction of growth, but that they must vote. If people are not willing to do that, we stand little chance of success. It is going to be a numbers game and that means talking to people and motivating them to vote.

I believe that it can be done, but it is going to take far more than just commenting on the internet. It is going to take time and effort. Please look inside yourself before you answer: Are you willing to do what it takes to succeed?
